How we think about childhood, learning and time at Nurture Early Learning.
Learning through play
We believe children learn best through play. Play is how young children make sense of their world — testing ideas, solving problems, imagining, negotiating and creating. It isn't a break from learning; it is the learning.
Our educators prepare rich, open-ended experiences, then follow the children's lead — noticing what captures them, joining in thoughtfully, and extending their interests into deeper investigation. A morning that starts with a handful of wooden blocks can become a lesson in balance, counting, cooperation and perseverance, all led by the child.
A slower pace
Childhood isn't a race, and neither are our days. We practise a slow-paced approach: gentle routines, few transitions, and long, unhurried stretches of time in which children can become deeply involved in what they're doing.
When children aren't rushed, they get to wonder, repeat, practise and master. They finish their ideas. And in a small setting like ours, educators have the time to sit alongside each child, listen properly, and let relationships grow at their own pace too.
Nature, every day
Our days are lived both indoors and out. Children climb, dig, balance and build in our outdoor spaces every day, in almost all weather — big movement and fresh air are part of the rhythm, not a reward.
Inside and out, we reach for natural materials — timber, stone, clay, growing things — and we make room for the small encounters that spark wonder. Caring for our environment and the living things in it teaches gentleness, patience and respect for the world children are growing up in.
